The Lost Cellphone
One morning, Ken is in the center of town. He cannot find his new cellphone. He looks in his bag and his pockets. Then, Ken sees a police officer. Ken runs to him and says, "Excuse me, I lost my cellphone!" The police officer is kind. He asks, "Do you have your cellphone with you now?" Ken says, "No, I do not." The officer smiles and points at Ken's hand. "Then, what is that in your right hand?" Ken looks down. He is holding his cellphone!

A Fly in the Soup
A man went into a busy restaurant near the town center at 11:30 a.m. He ordered a hot bowl of vegetable soup. A few minutes later, the waiter brought the soup to his table. The man picked up his spoon, but suddenly he stopped. He saw something strange in the bowl. A small fly was swimming around in the soup! The man was very angry. He called the waiter over and shouted, 'Waiter! What is this fly doing in my soup?' The waiter looked closely into the bowl, smiled politely, and replied, 'Well, sir, it looks like it is doing the backstroke!'

An Order in the Library
One afternoon, a busy businessman rushed into a quiet building in the center of town. He was holding his cellphone in one hand and his bag in the other. He had worked since early morning and was very hungry. He saw a long wooden desk with a person sitting behind it. Without looking around, he walked quickly up to the counter and shouted, "I would like a cheeseburger, large fries, and a cold drink, please!" The woman behind the counter looked at him in surprise. She frowned, put a finger to her lips, and said softly, "Excuse me, sir, but this is a public library!" The man realized his mistake immediately. His face turned bright red, and he felt very embarrassed. He lowered his head and answered, "Oh, I am terribly sorry." Then, he leaned over the desk and whispered quietly, "I would like a cheeseburger, large fries, and a cold drink, please."

A Special Guest in the Soup
One sunny morning, around 11:00 a.m., an elderly gentleman walked into a small cafe located near a busy shopping center. He put his cellphone on the table, ordered a bowl of hot vegetable soup, and waited patiently. When the food arrived, he lifted his spoon to take a taste. Suddenly, he noticed something strange moving on the surface. A tiny fly was swimming across his bowl. Instead of shouting, the man politely raised his hand to call the waiter over. "Excuse me," he whispered softly, pointing at his dish. "Could you tell me what this fly is doing in my hot soup?" The waiter leaned down closely, examined the dish with a serious face, and whispered back, "Well, sir, if you look closely, it appears to be doing the backstroke! But please speak quietly, sir, or everyone else will want one too!" The gentleman stared in surprise, and then burst out laughing at the waiter's unexpected humor.

A Strange Conversation
Last weekend, I visited a busy shopping center to buy some books. Around 11:00 a.m., I entered a crowded coffee shop and managed to find an empty chair at a small wooden table. A few seconds later, an elegantly dressed man in a dark suit sat down directly across from me.
Suddenly, without even looking up, he said, "Hi, how are you?"
I was slightly surprised because we had never met before, but I politely replied, "I am doing good, thanks. How about you?"
He paused for a second and then continued, "So, are you doing anything interesting today?"
Now I felt quite puzzled, but I still answered, "Not really. I am just reading and waiting for my best friend."
Then, he asked in a low whisper, "Can I come over to your place later?"
By this point, I felt extremely uncomfortable. Why was this total stranger inviting himself to my house? I nervously stammered, "Well, that sounds a little awkward. I barely know you!"
Suddenly, the man looked right at me, pointed at a tiny wireless earphone in his ear, and spoke angrily into his cellphone: "Listen, honey, I will have to call you back later. Some idiot sitting next to me keeps answering everything I say to you!"

A Matter of Common Sense
At around 9:00 a.m. on a brisk Monday morning, a helpline worker at a customer support center answered a call from a severely frustrated gentleman. The caller insisted that his brand-new cellphone was completely defective. 'The screen is completely blank,' he complained loudly. 'I pushed the power button repeatedly, but absolutely nothing happened!' The patient technician asked him to check the battery. He suggested plugging the device into a wall outlet to see whether the charging indicator would light up. The man replied that he could not locate the charging cable. 'It is pitch black in my apartment,' the customer explained. 'There is a severe power outage in my neighborhood, so not a single light or electrical appliance is working.' The technician paused for a long moment, struggling to process the customer's logic. He then calmly inquired, 'Sir, do you still happen to have the original packaging and the box that your cellphone came in?' The customer sounded relieved. 'Yes, I kept everything! Does that mean you are going to arrange an immediate exchange and send me a brand-new model?' The technician took a deep breath before delivering his final response. 'No, sir. I simply want you to pack the phone carefully into its original box, return it to the retail shop, and inform them that you are far too foolish to own a piece of modern technology.'
