A Good Question

One day, a father talks to his son, Tom. Tom comes home from school at 4:00 p.m. The father is very kind. He asks, "Did you ask any questions in class today?" Tom smiles happily. He says, "Yes, Dad! I asked our teacher a big question." The father is proud. He asks, "That is great! What did you ask?" Tom laughs and answers, "I asked the teacher, 'Can I go to sleep now?'" The father is surprised, and then they laugh together.

The Locked Bar

At 3:00 a.m., a hotel assistant was almost asleep at the front desk. Suddenly, the telephone rang loudly. A man asked, "What time does the hotel bar open?" The assistant answered politely, "It opens at 11:00 a.m., sir." An hour later, at 4:00 a.m., the phone rang again. It was the same man. He asked in a tired voice, "When does the bar open?" The assistant was angry and said, "I told you, it opens at eleven! You cannot get in until then!" The man replied sadly, "I do not want to get in. I fell asleep inside, and I want to get out!"

A Strange Order in the Library

One Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m., a man walked into a quiet public library. He went directly to the front desk and spoke to the library assistant in a very loud voice. "I want a hot cheeseburger, french fries, and a cold drink, please!" he shouted happily. The assistant looked at him with great surprise and whispered, "Sir, you cannot do that here. This is a library!" The man's face turned red, and he realized his funny mistake right away. He felt very sorry for disturbing the other people. Some students who were almost asleep suddenly woke up. The man then decided to ask again more politely. He leaned closer, put his hand next to his mouth, and whispered softly, "Oh, I am so sorry. May I have a cheeseburger, french fries, and a cold drink, please?" The whole room became quiet, and then everyone burst into laughter.

A Matter of Responsibility

Mr. Harrison, a strict history teacher, was known for giving long, repetitive lectures that easily made students tired. One Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., he was explaining an ancient battle during a special classroom assembly. While he was speaking with great enthusiasm, he noticed a boy named Leo in the back row. Leo had his head on his notebook and was fast asleep, breathing deeply. Mr. Harrison stopped his speech, clearly annoyed by the boy's lack of attention. He glared at Leo's neighbor, Sam, who was quietly taking notes. "Sam," the teacher asked in a stern voice, "wake up your partner immediately!" Sam looked at the sleeping boy, then looked back at the serious teacher. Instead of obeying the command right away, Sam thought for a second. He sat straight, smiled politely, and replied, "With all due respect, sir, you were the person who put him to sleep. Therefore, I believe it is your responsibility to wake him up." The entire classroom instantly erupted into laughter. Even the teacher's assistant could not help smiling at Sam's clever response.

Jesus Is Watching You

A clever burglar sneaked into a dark house around 2:00 a.m. while the entire family was asleep. As he was searching for valuable items in the living room, he suddenly heard a mysterious voice whisper, "Jesus is watching you!" The terrified burglar stopped moving immediately and turned off his flashlight. He waited in total silence for several minutes. When he heard nothing more, he shook his head and thought he was just imagining things. He turned his light back on and continued to ask himself where the jewelry was hidden. Suddenly, the voice spoke again, "Jesus is watching you!" Shivering with fear, the intruder pointed his light toward the corner of the room. To his surprise, he saw a caged parrot sitting on a branch. "Did you speak to me?" the burglar asked, feeling relieved. "Yes," the bird replied politely. "My name is Moses." The thief laughed out loud and asked, "What kind of foolish person names a parrot Moses?" The parrot tilted its head and answered, "The same person who named that huge guard dog behind you Jesus."

The Most Valuable Bird in the Shop

At around ten a.m., an ambitious young assistant walked into an upscale pet store intending to buy a bird to keep him company. Upon entering, he noticed a magnificent commotion near the back counter. Three parrots were displayed on wooden perches, each marked with an astonishing price tag. Intrigued, he approached the shopkeeper to ask why the first parrot cost one thousand dollars. The owner explained with pride that the bird was a genius, capable of reciting classic poetry and fluent in English. The assistant then asked about the second bird, which had a price of two thousand dollars. The shopkeeper replied that this particular parrot could speak five different languages and expertly manage complex mathematical equations. Finally, the young man noticed a third parrot, looking old and scruffy, fast asleep on a secluded perch. To his sheer shock, the price tag read five thousand dollars. Bewildered by this discovery, the customer had to inquire what extraordinary skills justified such a high price. The owner looked around, leaned in, and whispered in a reluctant voice, 'To be honest, I have never heard him speak a single word or do anything useful. But the other two birds call him the boss, and they obey every order he never gives.'
