Clean Energy from the Sun and Wind
The sun shines in the sky at 7:00 a.m. It gives us light and heat every day. Today, many houses use solar panels. These panels make energy from sunlight. This energy is clean and good for the earth. Wind also helps us. When the wind blows, big wind turbines make power, too. We can save energy in our daily life. For example, we can turn off lights. This helps our planet and protects every animal. Small actions make a big change for our future.

Clean Energy and Green Forests
Costa Rica is a small country in Central America, but it does amazing things for our planet. Today, the country uses clean renewable energy like water, sun, and wind for almost all of its electricity. In the past, people cut down many trees in ancient forests. This was very dangerous for each wild animal living there. However, the government made new rules to protect the green land. Now, local farmers receive money if they plant trees and save the forests. Because of this, animals like monkeys and colorful birds can live safely again. Costa Rica shows the world that we can protect nature and live well at the same time. Many people hope other countries will follow this bright idea.

A Green Leader: Costa Rica
Did you know that some countries create almost all of their electricity from nature? Costa Rica, a small country in Central America, is a famous green leader. More than 98 percent of its electricity comes from renewable sources like rivers, wind, and volcanoes. Long ago, people cut down many ancient forests for farms. However, the government decided to protect nature. They planted millions of trees and paid farmers to keep their forests safe. Today, over half of the country is covered with green trees again. This clean energy and forest protection help many wild animal species, such as colourful birds and monkeys, live peacefully. Costa Rica shows that people can build a modern society without harming the planet. By choosing clean power, we can protect the Earth for the future.

Ancient Wisdom for a Cooler Planet
Today, millions of air conditioners use huge amounts of electricity to keep our rooms cool. However, centuries before electricity was invented, ancient builders in hot desert regions found a smart way to solve this problem. They built tall towers called windcatchers on their roofs. These towers caught the fresh breeze high above the ground and pushed it down into the rooms. The air often passed over pools of cool water beneath the house, which lowered the indoor temperature significantly while pushing warm air out through other openings. Today, modern architects are rediscovering this ancient idea to design eco-friendly buildings that consume very little energy. Some designers even study how desert animal species, like termites, build nests with natural ventilation paths. By combining ancient human knowledge with lessons from the living world, we can create sustainable cities without harming our planet.

The Power of Blue Carbon and Coastal Forests
When people think about fighting climate change, they often imagine solar panels or planting trees on land. However, coastal ecosystems play an equally powerful role. Scientists call the carbon stored in ocean and coastal habitats "blue carbon." Among these vital habitats, mangrove forests are true environmental heroes.
Mangrove trees grow in salty water along tropical coasts. Like ancient forests on land, they absorb huge amounts of carbon dioxide. In fact, research shows that mangroves can store carbon up to four times faster than terrestrial forests. Their dense underground roots trap organic matter in muddy soil, locking carbon away for hundreds of years.
Beyond storing carbon, mangroves protect human communities and biodiversity. Their tangled roots break strong ocean waves, reducing flood damage during severe storms. Furthermore, these wetland forests provide a safe shelter for almost every small marine animal, including young fish and crabs that hide from predators.
Unfortunately, aquaculture and coastal development threaten these valuable ecosystems. Today, international organizations and local communities are working together to restore damaged mangrove wetlands. Protecting our blue carbon habitats is an essential step toward achieving a sustainable future for our planet.

Ancient Agricultural Wisdom for Modern Sustainability
Facing rapid climate change and widespread habitat loss, modern environmentalists are turning to ancient agricultural practices to foster biodiversity and enhance ecosystem resilience. For generations, traditional farming harmoniously integrated diverse crops, trees, and domestic animals, creating balanced, self-sustaining microclimates. Today, this integrated land-use approach, widely known as agroforestry, offers a powerful, regenerative alternative to industrialized monoculture, which constantly depletes soil nutrients and accelerates environmental degradation across rural landscapes.
Agroforestry operates by strategically planting deep-rooted trees alongside seasonal agricultural crops. These trees act as natural windbreaks against harsh weather, effectively prevent severe soil erosion, and drastically reduce the overall necessity for synthetic fertilizers by fixing essential nitrogen into the surrounding earth. Furthermore, the shaded microclimates beneath expansive leaf canopies preserve crucial soil moisture, allowing delicate food crops to thrive even during prolonged seasonal droughts.
Beyond profound ecological advantages, this multifaceted system delivers substantial socioeconomic benefits to vulnerable rural communities. By cultivating multiple marketable products, such as timber, native fruit, and shade-grown coffee, local farmers significantly minimize their financial risks associated with unpredictable weather patterns and volatile commodity price fluctuations. In response, young climate ambassadors across the globe are actively championing these ancestral methods, demonstrating that modern cutting-edge technology and time-tested ecological wisdom can coexist harmoniously. Ultimately, reviving these ancient sustainable techniques reminds us that successfully restoring our shared planet requires working alongside nature rather than attempting to conquer or dominate it.
