A Smart Plan in the Dark

Tom runs into the living room. His father is reading a book on the sofa. Tom asks, "Dad, can you write in the dark?" His father smiles and says, "Yes, son, I can write in the dark easily. Why do you ask?" Tom gives a pen and a card to his father. Tom turns off the room lights and says, "That is great, Dad! Please sign your name on my school card right now!" His father stops and turns on the lights with a smile.

A Day Out with a Penguin

One sunny morning at 10:00 a.m., a police officer saw a man driving a car. There was a cute penguin in the back seat! The officer was very surprised and stopped the car. He said to the man, "You cannot keep a penguin in your car! Take it to the zoo right now!" The man said okay and drove away. The next morning, the officer saw the same car on the street. The penguin was still in the back seat, and it was wearing sunglasses! The officer stopped the car again and asked, "Why is that penguin still with you? I told you to take it to the zoo!" The driver smiled and said, "I did take him to the zoo yesterday! We had so much fun. Today, I am taking him to the beach!"

The Smartest Man in the Sky

An airplane had serious trouble in the air at 10:00 a.m. The engine stopped, and the captain came out to talk to the passengers. There were only four people left with him: a famous doctor, an old priest, and a young boy carrying a heavy bag. The captain said, "We have a big problem. The plane is falling, but we only have four parachutes for five people. I must fly more planes, so I will take one!" He grabbed the first parachute and jumped out. Then the doctor stood up. "I am the smartest doctor in the world! People need my brain!" He grabbed a pack near a cardboard box and quickly jumped out. Finally, the kind priest smiled at the boy. "Take the last parachute, my son. I have lived a long life." But the boy laughed, "Don't worry, Father! The smartest man just took my school bag!"

A Very Strange Excuse

Late one evening, around 3:00 a.m., an elderly man was driving his car too fast along an empty highway. Suddenly, flashing red lights appeared behind him. A police car quickly pulled him over to the side of the road.

The police officer slowly approached the car window and asked to see the man's driver's card. Then, the officer smiled slightly and said, "Sir, my shift ends in twenty minutes. If you can give me a clever excuse that I have never heard before, I will let you go without a ticket."

The man thought for a moment, sighed deeply, and replied, "Well, officer, three weeks ago, my wife ran away with a police officer. When I saw your flashing lights back there, I was terrified that you were bringing her back to me!"

The officer stared at the man in silence for a few seconds. Then, he burst into laughter, returned the card, and said, "Have a safe drive home, sir."

A Terrifying Takeoff

It was a dark night, around 2:00 a.m., and an anxious man was waiting for his flight to take off. Suddenly, the cabin door opened, and the captain came out wearing dark sunglasses. He was holding a wooden walking stick in one hand and holding the leash of a guide dog in the other. He slowly tapped the floor as he made his way toward the cockpit. Behind him, the copilot followed, wearing even darker glasses and holding another white stick. The nervous man could not believe his eyes. He leaned over and whispered to the lady next to him, asking whether this was a joke, but she simply shook her head in terror. Soon, the plane accelerated down the runway. Faster and faster it went, but it did not take off. The water at the very end of the runway was getting dangerously close. Finally, every passenger screamed in total panic. At that exact second, the plane smoothly lifted into the air. Hearing the loud screams fade away, the captain turned to his copilot and smiled, saying, "You know, Bob, one day they will scream too late, and we will definitely crash into the water."

A Curious Gap

A nervous candidate arrived at a prestigious firm at precisely 10:00 a.m. for an interview that could define his career. Sitting across from him was a seasoned hiring manager known for her sharp eyes and careful nature. She flipped through his impressive resume with genuine interest. His educational record appeared flawless, and his references spoke warmly of his work ethic. However, after careful study of the timeline, the manager leaned forward and adjusted her glasses. 'Your qualifications are remarkable,' she said, 'yet I notice a curious gap between 2019 and 2022. You have three solid years without any official employment record. Could you explain what you did during that period?' The applicant took a deep breath, looked directly into her eyes, and answered in a steady, confident tone: 'During those three years, I had the unique privilege of studying law and sociology at Yale.' Relieved by the answer, the manager smiled warmly. 'That sounds wonderful!' she exclaimed. 'We deeply value higher education here. You certainly seem tailored for this position.' The man nodded politely, stood up, and picked up his leather briefcase. With an honest smile, he added carefully, 'Thank you so much. I really hope I get the job, because it is extremely hard to find work when you have just finished a three-year prison term for theft.'
